We’ve been fans of the Husar products for quite a while, so when they offered us a review unit of their Cubby Admin+ pouch, we could not say no.
So what is this thing?
Husar Cubby Admin is an interesting product that can either be an admin pouch, a dangler or a fanny pack. It comes in many versions and we got the chance to play around with the bigger “plus” version of it.
It consists of two main pockets, both accessible via YKK zippers with extended grab cords for ease of opening.
The smaller pocket in the front allows for storing of smaller items, documents and the like. An interesting feature is the ability to remove the zipper to simply close it with the velcro hooks and loops. Adaptability, customisability and modularity are the general idea behind the Husar products.
The front also features elastic bands, so you can secure pens, chemlights or other items to Cubby. At the bottom, the included bungee cords allow for attaching or holding any other utilities that the user would like to carry.
Inside of the main compartment we will find a front flap with elastic bands for securing items inside, a divider with another set of elastic bands and a D-ring–great for making sure that your keys do not get lost.
The bottom is laid out with velcro loops which in turn allow for installing any other dividers.
At the back of the main container we will find an info card, handwritten with the date of manufacturing and the name of the person who crafted the pouch. A nice touch showing the amount of love and passion put into the products.
The back of the unit contains standard Hypalon MOLLE straps for attaching the Cubby to MOLLE gear. Choosing Hypalon is a very interesting idea that we see being used by more and more manufacturers. It makes weaving MOLLE a little bit easier and also provides plenty of durability, so no need to worry about breaking the straps. Additionally the loops at the back allow connecting the Cubby to the belt strap included with the set. It transforms the pouch into a neat fanny pack.
The unit is durable and built with Cordura 500D. We’ve been testing it for many months in harsh weather, be it hot temperatures during Spanish summer, salty beaches and very rainy nights. We’re yet to see any signs of wear.
Using it
We’ve really enjoyed using the product. It’s well thought out and offers plenty of features. It’s easy to store a larger mobile phone in the front pocket, and a ton of other accessories–be it food, snacks, tools, magazines, a radio or what have you.
The versatility of mounting options and adaptability is something we really appreciated during the testing. There’s not a lot of products on the market that share a similar general idea behind their design. We’ve been impressed with the Husar Noble plate carrier and it’s great to see that the innovation is put not only in the main products, but also those accompanying them like pouches.
